Apple watch Hermes edition - Where is the value?

What value is Apple adding to the Hermes edition?

I have an extensive watch collection (Tag, Breitling, Hamilton) just to name a few. These watches appreciate over time. The same goes for if I purchase a watch directly from Hermes. Yet apple wants $1500 for an Hermes watch but is only willing to give you $140 trading in for it if you decide to upgrade to the new model. That means Hermes name has no value and means nothing. You may as well get the regular watch and save your money.

As a collector, most likely not as much as others.

The Apple Watch electronics are the same as any other Apple Watch cellular model. Find the matching size and case, and that would be the base price.

The Hermes gives you a Hermes watch band

The Hermes gives you a Hermes ONLY watch face (all other regular watch faces are also included)

The Hermes gives you a Hermes Logo

Only you can decided if those features are worth it to you. Substitute the name "Nike" for "Hermes" and that is the feature set a Nike Apple Watch offers.

Apple is very conservative on the trade-in value for everything. Sell it privately.
