Using Magic Keyboard on iPad Pro (2020) in pages, space bar doesn’t work.

When using my Magic Keyboard on my iPad Pro (2020) in pages, the space bar is not working. Instead of adding a space between my words it is selecting other option on the tool bar. How do I fix this? I can add spaces when I take my iPad off the Magic keyboard and use the default keyboard on the screen. This is extremely inconvenient especially if I will be using my iPad in college classes in the Fall. Is there anyway I can fix this?
