Q: Why does my new 2020 Mac Pro screen change/flicker color to orange tone on and off?

The first 2020 Mac Pro delivery had the same screen color change plus overheating problems. I got it exchanged to this one which arrived today (see below specs). The 2nd one doesn't have the heating issue but still the screen color flickers from normal to orange. WHY!!???!!! I got hung up 2x while on hold calling Apple Support. Being a novice when it comes to hard drives, I'm suspecting the memory upgrade may be causing this mess..but what do I know..

Question 1: why is the screen color tone changing?

Question 2: Is there a fix?

1.4GHz quad‑core 8th‑generation Intel Core i5 processor, Turbo Boost up to 3.9GHz
16GB 2133MHz LPDDR3 memory<-- upgrade
512GB SSD storage

I've noticed infrequent subtle changes in mine which I believe are from Use True Tone on your Mac - Apple Support

You may try turning that off and see what happens.

Do you mean a 2020 MacBook Pro?

Anyway, I'm guessing you have Night Shift enabled. Night Shift adjusts display colors to better match ambient lighting. It's a good thing! You can turn it off in Preference Settings > Displays > Night Shift.

There's also a similar option for brightness that auto-adjusts the screen brightness, but reacts more quickly to ambient changes.

Rysz, thanks for your reply. Yes, I meant MacBook Pro 2020.

As this is a new device and I didn't even know Night Shift even existed, it is on the default setting with Schedule "off" with the Color Temp at "Middle". However, I did just learn something new. Thanks.

FoxFifth, thanks for your helpful tip. I will try turning off True Tone.

Nonetheless, isn't the True Tone one of the qualities that differentiates MacBook Pro to Air? big time bummer....

I'm just suggesting it as a troubleshooting step. I haven't turned it off on mine as it hasn't been an issue but I do sometimes see subtle changes that I suspect are due to that.
