iPhone SE 13.5.1 Microphone Not Available with Webex Apps

Dear Apple Community,

We have a new iPhone SE 13.5.1 and are unable to manage the privacy setting for Microphone.

The only app listed in Mic privacy is Whatsapp and it is greyed out, cannot be changed.

Also, both Webex Meetings app and Webex Teams app are showing errors when joining a meeting that the mic will be unavailable for the meeting and to go into privacy settings to change. However, again, we go to privacy settings for mic and Webex is not listed there. We have tried support via Webex and according to the logs and reports they are saying it's an Apple issue. We are stuck with nowhere to turn. Has anyone experienced? Suggested next steps? Thank you - KZMBATRAINING

Thanks for reaching out in Apple Support Communities. We understand you're having trouble granting access to the microphone and you're also seeing errors related to the microphone not being available when you use Whatsapp and Webex apps. We see you've done some great troubleshooting so far; we'd like to help. First, make sure that there aren't any restrictions enabled regarding microphone access and changes in Settings > Screen Time > Content & Privacy Restrictions: Use Screen Time on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch


If there aren't any restrictions enabled or the issue persists after adjusting them, you may want to remove and redownload the apps needing access to the microphone:



If you're unable to grant access after redownloading the affected apps, we'd suggest reinstalling iOS to your device. First, create a backup: How to back up your iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch


Next, use the steps titled "Put your device in recovery mode and set it up again" in the following resource. These steps will erase the iOS currently installed and replace it with a fresh copy so be sure to closely follow step four and choose to "Update" in order to prevent data loss: If you can't update or restore your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch


After you complete this process check to see if you're able to use and modify or grant access to Whatsapp and Webex apps to use the microphone.

Regarding the Webex Apps (even whatsapp) not having access to the microphone, yes, we tried providing access in the settings, though not in the Settings > Screen Time > Content & Privacy Restrictions. If we come across the issue again, we will check there.


We did full uninstall and reinstall of the apps with no success.


Apple Support walked us through Settings > General > Reset > Reset All Settings


And that worked for this situation!

Though we needed to setup wifi passwords and such again, it was easier than a full iOS reinstall.
