Unable to get Dolby Vision on Apple TV 4k and Sony A8G

I have not found a solution to the subject issue after reviewing several similar posts on this site, so hopefully not repeating this.

I am unable to get Dolby Vision working with my configuration, and looking for recommendations.

The Apple TV 4k video setting is set to "Matching Content".

The Sony A8G HDMI input is set to "Enhanced".

The cable is a 6ft Cable Matters Ultra High Speed HDMI 2.1 (i have tried 3 different cables).

The Apple TV 4k is connected directly to the side HDMI port on the Sony A8G.

When I attempt to click "Try Dolby Vision" on the Apple TV 4k, it comes back after several seconds and says it reverted back to the original format, saying I should make sure the devices and cable are appropriate for Dolby Vision. In theory, they are. Both SDR and HDR work fine, it is only the Dolby Vision that isn't working.

I did look up your TV to check it was compatible and whilst I know you have tried them, it does say only ports 2 & 3 are HDMI 2 compatible.

Other than this I can only think you might try different cables, that you have evidenced working with DV.

Thank you. I had been resisting buying the Belkin high speed hdmi cable certified to be compatible with dolby vision and promoted by Apple, but it seems the likely culprit in this equation. I placed an order for it yesterday and should have it to test tomorrow. If that doesn't work, i'll need to see if either device is defective.

Have you tried all the ports on your TV, some TVs do not support Dolby Vision on every HDMI port?

Where are you and what frequency have you set the output to?

Are there any other components in the set up?

Thank you. i tried all 4 ports on the TV, but can't get the dolby vision on any. I am located in the US and frequency is 60Hz. I do have a new Denon AVRX-3700H Receiver, but have temporarily removed it so just have the Apple TV 4K connected directly to the Sony A8G TV.

Thank you. I did set the HDMI ports to enhanced mode, and still no luck.

"Sony HDR TVs: Home > Settings > External inputs > HDMI signal format > HDMI [select the SHIELD input] > Enhanced mode (TV will reboot)"

** Update ** Problem was solved with a new HDMI cable. Although I had originally purchased and installed a high speed (HDMI 2.1, 48Gbps) cable from Cable Matters, it didn't solve the issue. I purchased Apple's recommended cable from Belkin (high speed HDMI cable) and it solved the problem. Normally I wouldn't buy this overpriced cable, but it actually works, unlike the other cables I had tried.
