Safari truncates web pages (rendering issue)

I get this on my Mac, on my iPhone and on my iPad - some web pages get truncated or Safari would stop rendering the page.

The solution seems to be to resize Safari (or rotate the screen). This causes a "re-rendering" of the page and will usually have the page properly rendered on the second (or third) attempt.

Any way to fix this so things work as intended right from the beginning?

Example website where this issue occurs (though not exclusive to this website) would be: bowild.com

MacBook Pro 15”, macOS 10.15

Hi BoazSegev,

Thank you for using the Apple Support Communities! We understand you are experiencing an issue when accessing some webpages/sites via Safari on your Mac and iOS devices. Let's work together and see how we can get this resolved.

To get started, below are two resources that include steps to help with this type of issue in Safari:

For your Mac: If Safari doesn't load a page or webpage items are missing - Apple Support.

For your iOS devices: If Safari displays a blank page or quits on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch - Apple Support.

It's also suggested to make sure your Mac and iOS devices are updated to the latest OS versions:

-Update your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch - Apple Support.

-How to update the software on your Mac - Apple Support.

If the same issue remains after these steps, feel free to reply back with responses to the below questions:

-Does the same issue occur when connected to a different network?

-Does this also happen when you attempt to access these webpages/sites using a different web browser?

Best regards.

Bo,

Thank you for trying out those steps, and sharing more details about this issue.

Do you happen to be connecting through VPN on your iOS devices and Mac? Use VPN on iPhone - Apple Support, and Connect your Mac to a VPN - Apple Support. If so, if you were to disconnect VPN, does the same behavior occur?

Based on your given OS versions, there are newer updates available; macOS 10.15.6 and iOS 13.6: Update your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch - Apple Support, and How to update the software on your Mac - Apple Support. Please try updating and let us know if the same behavior continues.

Thank you for your time.

Hi Brenden,

Thank you for your detailed response - unfortunately it didn't solve the issue.

The issue persists, both on iOS (iPhone and iPad) and macOS. Restarting, clearing the cache, deleting all the safari extensions, restarting again - the problem still persists.

I don't know if it's specific to my machines, but I'm running the latest public releases of macOS (10.15.5), iOS (13.15.1) and iPadOS and they all suffer from the same issue.

To answer your questions:

-Does the same issue occur when connected to a different network?

Yes, the issue occurs on every network I tries (cellular / home wifi / coffee shops...).

-Does this also happen when you attempt to access these webpages/sites using a different web browser?

No, the issue only occurs with Safari. The pages display correctly on Brave, Chrome and FireFox.

Thanks again for trying.

Kindly,

Bo.

Hi MoonJ.,

Thank you for trying to help.

This morning I updated to macOS 10.15.6 and iOS 13.6.

On macOS and iPad, as well as the iPhone in landscape mode, the issue persists after the update.

However, on iOS, on iPhone, in portrait mode only, the issue appears to have been resolved by the update (or maybe its effects are less unnoticeable).

I tested it without a VPN, the issue persists. Also, the workaround (resizing causing a re-rendering of the page which then displays the missing data) hints that this isn't network related.

I which there was some CSS style or something that I could add to the default Safari style-sheet that would solve this issue.

Kindly,

Bo.

P.S.,

Anyone else experiencing this issue? You might need to wait a second before scrolling down for the issue to appear, but it's super annoying when it happens.

You can see an example here (go to bowild.com to try for yourself):
