Screen size when opening Amazon webpage
The screen opens to full size on Amazon page then shrinks down to half the size. I have to use my fingers to resize it to a full page. How do I stop this?

In the AMAZON APP, the web page, when opened, shrinks and floats to the left. It only happens in the APP, not in safari and only on the IPAD. I have tried ALL the suggestions previously listed. It will work okay for a while than it shifts to the left and shrinks. Amazon says the problem is Apple, Apple says the problem is Amazon. No help anywhere.

These fixes seem very YMMV but for what it’s worth I’m having success by tapping the AA in the address box while on Amazon’s site, choosing website settings, and turning on “Use Reader Automatically”. It gives the normal full screen on my mini 6 in Safari, not a Reader page. Good luck!
I’m having the same problem, and it’s not limited to the Safari web browser. I get the same results opening an Amazon web page running Firefox or Chrome. I don’t see this problem on my Dell laptop PC using Bing, Chrome or Firefox. I’m using an iPad Air (3rd generation) running IOS v16.2
This fix was for using the amazon website thru safari on my iPad. Mine started doing the same thing….opening and being super small that I couldn’t read it without using my fingers to zoom it in. I found out there is a setting in safari for specific web pages. I have no idea why or how this setting got changed to 50%, but I changed it back to 100% and it’s fixed. See screenshots for more.
HERE ARE THE STEPS I TOOK THAT FINALLY FIXED AMAZONS WEBSITE FROM SHRINKING ON MY iPAD MINI 6 IN SAFARI
1.) Open the Safari App on your iPad click the search field at the top of the page and go to AMAZON WEBSITE
2.) Once on amazon.com click the double AA button to the left of the search field as outlined in RED in the reference photo below. This will activate a drop down menu.
3.). In the drop down menu click the smaller A button to the left as outlined in RED in the reference photo. The YELLOW circle is indicating the page zoom level.
4.) Next click on the refresh button to the right of the search field as outlined in RED in the reference photo. Once the webpage is refreshed amazon.com should fill to the width of your screen. This set’s the page zoom for this individual webpage, while not affecting the rest of the website’s you visit. To confirm this setting proceed to the next step.
5.) Close out of the Safari App and open the Settings App and scroll down on the left hand menu until you see Safari and click on it. This will open Safaris menu options to the right. Now scroll down until you see the Page Zoom option and click it. You will now see the label PAGE ZOOM ON set to 85% for amazon.com and OTHER WEBSITES set to 100%
I hope this has helped anyone that has had this happen on their iPad when visiting AMAZON’s website.

I already did all those things. Not one of them helped. It only happens on my ipad and in the Amazon app. I contacted Amazon and they said contact Apple. The app opens fine, but when I click on an item to view, the page opens full size and within a few seconds shrinks and shifts left. Please help.
I have the same problem on my iPad mini. I’m not using the Amazon app, just viewing the Amazon web page on Safari. The page opens fine but then instantly shrinks to about half size in a narrow band on the left, which means text is unreadably small.
If I zoom in, or use my fingers to enlarge the page, then the page swims about on screen and I can only see part of it.
I’ve tried clearing history and cookies and restarting my iPad.
I’m on the latest update.
All other websites work ok at the moment, but this is the second time I’ve had this problem on the iPad and last time several sites were affected. Last time I spent hours trying to fix it and finally it cleared up on its own. No idea why.
How can I fix this?
I went to the three dots on upper right of Chrome, then selected settings by scrolling left on upper most blue icons. Scrolled up (down) to bottom to “content settings”. Finally under “content settings” mine was set to mobile, changed “default size view” to “Desktop”, see if that helps or works.
Tried increasing the size of the Safari page settings to 115 per cent but it did NOT work. The page still shrinks and moves left and when I try to enlarge with my fingers it floats all over. Please, does anyone know what to do about this awful problem.
ok from what i can tell it is because some graphics on some sellers sights somewhere on the listing go outside the area of the sellers page.. so if you scroll down in the app you wiull see that some graphic is too big and the page is fitting that graphic to the page and that shrinks the other part down. i would guess you could only zoom in on these pages because amazon and apple cant know whcich pages are like this. IMO

On my iPad mini 6, some Amazon product pages open perfectly. Some other product pages once opened properly but now shrink after a couple of seconds. This is with both Safari and Amazon set at 100% zoom. Playing with the "request desktop site" option doesn't help, nor does clearing browsing history.
Perhaps this a caching issue on Safari??
Or perhaps previous Amazon page view information is stored on my Amazon account somewhere and does not update what Safari settings are changed??
It worked on my iPad Pro 11 generation 3. I’m using the 16.4.1 version software. Maybe the older versions are different. Anyway, thanks a ton. That always drove me nuts. I have the newest mini also. I’m going to try it on that when I get home. Thanks again.
Oh by the way, the post by goggaburr about mixed graphics is onto something too. I tried several different pages and they are correct about graphics from mfg’s being “too large to fit the page”. I believe this whole issue goes back to the people coding for Amazon. They can’t account for every advertising font and graphic layout.
I haven’t tried it on my mini but it popped up right on my 11 then when I started scrolling it went into reader mode. I guess the old pinch and zoom method is going to have to do on my 11 Pro until Apple or Amazon come up with a fix.it is annoying though.
