why do some trackpad gestures not work in Firefox?

I'm trying Firefox again to try to get away from Google. As before it's proving to be inconvenient in a lot of ways. Like the trackpad - the 2-finger /spread to zoom out and in doesn't work at all, though it works perfectly in Chrome. Smart zoom (2-finger double-tap) and Rotate (rotate with 2 fingers) also don't work. I can't find any setting in Firefox to fix this and nobody in the FF community has responded to my questions. Is anybody here familiar with this in FF and know how to make it work? Many thanks.

If the trackpad gestures worked in Chrome, its because Google took the pains to allow it. Firefox is another development team that is under no obligation to interoperate with trackpad gestures. If these are important to your workflow, then use the latest version of Safari your current operating system updates provide, or if the hardware permits it, upgrade to High Sierra, or later so you can get Safari 13.1.1.
