Accessing all my Images in Messages

I recently wanted to go back and view all of the images I have sent or received in one specific conversation in Messages, and I have been unable to recover them all using the normal pathway of clicking the "i" and scrolling down to the photos section where some sent/received photos are viewable. Even after clicking "view all photos" I still am unable to access the majority of photos sent in the conversation.

I tried scrolling down to the very bottom and clicking "download x images from icloud" and it completed the download but still did not have these images accessible in the "view all photos" window. Are they accessible somewhere else by chance?

I won't be able to scroll up through every single text I've ever sent to access these buried photos and I've already tried connecting my phone to my computer to see if I could squeeze them out that way, but to no avail. I am on the most recent iOS update, so no worries there.

Any help or ideas would be appreciated, thanks. Third party apps maybe (last resort)??
