iTunes user, with iTunes Match, iCloud Music Library is selected. iCloud and iTunes user names are the same. When I ask Siri on my HomePod to access a song, a playlist, an artist, anything, Siri can't find it. Incredibly frustrating. I love Apple products, but why after several years is Siri so pathetically worse than Alexa? Why can't it perform this simple task of playing a song when I ask it to?
It does work with iTunes Match and according to iMore and MacRumors (January 28th 2018) Apple confirmed this - “Okay, got some HomePod clarification: iTunes Match *and* Apple Music users can access their iCloud Music Library via Siri. 🎊 — Serenity Caldwell (@settern) January 28, 2018”
The key to getting it to work is to turn off Recognise my Voice in the Home app.
It is hidden away and it is not intuitive.
Open the Home app. Tap or click on the little house icon in the top left, then in the next screen tap on your name under People and turn off Recognise My Voice.
You lose personalised Siri (calendar events etc) but I bought mine to play Music, which it does very, very well.

...as a follow on, also make sure that in the Home.app, you press on the HomePod, tap on the gear wheel in the bottom right and ensure that the Default Account (under Music & Podcasts) is the same email address as the iTunes Match account.
