It depends on several things.

If the clip was copied into the Library, it will be deleted IF it is no longer in use in any project.

You will know that because FCP will warn you.

If the clip was not copied, i.e. if when it was imported, "Leave in place" was selected, then removing from the browser will not delete the actual media, only the symlink to it that is stored in the library (a very tiny thing).

If you delete a clip from the browser but it is still used in a project, the clip disappears from the browser but is not deleted (otherwise your project would cease to work, of course).

That is NOT a copy of the clips. It is a symlink.

Note the small size, and note the little hook arrow in the icon.

Two things you may want to do.

1) Actually save possibly a lot of space by deleting all generated files. Odds are that these will save you a lot more than the originals. Select the library in the browser sidebar, and do File->Delete Generated Library Files...

Check everything, including All Render Files.

2) To make sure that files are not lost, you may want to "Consolidate", that is, make sure that all the media is safely stored inside the library. This will actually COPY the external files to that location inside the library.

hello it takes me to the folder in my desktop so i guess that is its original file right? but in the finder going to the library of the fcp project then clicking package content there is actually another copy of all the clips present in the timeline. Why is there a second copy of all the clips i used in the a fcp library of the project if the originals are actually in my desktop?

It depends on the settings for the library when you dragged those files.

You have to ascertain whether or not they were copied.

Select a file in the timeline, press Shift-F to reveal in browser. Then in the browser, control-click and choose Reveal in Finder.

Where does it take you? To a folder called "Original Media" inside the library? Or on some other location? How big is the file?
