Can Numbers 6.2 Not Auto-Update the Saved File Format?

Is it possible with Numbers 6.2 to not have it change the file format on a Numbers '09 file that is opened?

I can't downgrade the Numbers version on my computer and my wife can't upgrade the version on hers, so the Numbers '09 format is the only one we can both use. Unfortunately, every time I save the file, it silently updates it to a newer format which she can't open.

Mac mini, macOS 10.14

You can export it to the current file name, provided you export to a different location.

Here's and example:

In the background is a finder window showing my test file (in post-'09 format)] (in my Desktop folder)

In the forground is a Numbers '09 version of the same file, exported to a different location (a folder on my Desktop)

Either file can be opened i n te post '09 version of Numbers. Only the exported (and converted) file can be opened in Numbers '09.

Regards,

Barry
