I have a 6s which stopped working and was replaced long ago. This device is dead. I no longer have the packaging or receipt. I need to find the serial number but can only find an IMEI number. Is there a number on the physical device? Or, is there any way to find the serial number by use of some cross reference with the IMEI number?

I am sorry but you didn't answer my question. Where on the physical phone is the serial number located? The phone was replaced more than a year ago because it stopped working after the battery was replaced. I do not have the original box nor the original contract. I have the IMEI number but not the serial number. I am trying to get the $25 that I am owed due to the slowdown settlement. IMEI number is not acceptable for that. The serial number is required. Starting with the iPhone6 the serial number is not co-located with the IMEI number. Where is it on the physical device itself?
