Is there a separate Password for iCloud (in macOS OR iOS)?

Sometimes , in macOS 10.10.5 after re boot, I am asked to supply the Password for my icloud. I dont recall EVER setting up such a Password. Is it JUSt my APpleId Password? I enter it and it comes back and asks again.

Finally I cancel it go on with my iMac

Should I have a PWD for iCloud? How do I set it up on macOS 10.10.5 OR iOS 13.6.1?

iMac, OS X 10.10

That's your Apple ID password. Constant requests for the password are sometimes reported by users.

You can try to resolve it by signing out of iCloud then signing back in. Sign out of iCloud on your iPhone, iPad, iPod touch, Apple TV, or Mac - Apple Support

However, you may be asked to sign into the App Store and other services again.
