Can't import mp3s

My mac refuses to import any new MP3s. I try all the usual methods, but they simple won't import into Music. Any ideas?

Donald,

Drag the MP3 files into your Automatically Add to Music folder, which is inside the Media folder. (Do this while Music is running.) If the file is compatible it will be added to your library. If it is not compatible, it will be placed in a Not Added folder.

Thanks for trying but I don't have a Media Folder (anywhere that I can find) or an Automatically Add folder.

I know of three ways to import MP3s: from the Import Playlist in Library, from Import, both in the File menu, and by directly dragging them into a playlist. The first two methods simply don't respond (nothing happens) and with the third the MP3s just jump back into their original folder. They don't import.

I have no idea why. I've been downloading files like this for years. Now? Nothing.

Never mind. The Media folder is in my User folder. Once I put it there it showed up in Recent. From there I added it to a playlist.

Thanks for the help.

I'm curious tho. Why did it all the sudden become so different and so much harder to do?

File > Import seems to be broken lately, which is why using the Automatically Add folder is a more reliable way. Anyway, glad it worked out.
