I have a new MacBook Air and I cannot figure out how to delete old VIP mailboxes that do not have any emails in them. The old VIP mailboxes came from my old MacBook computer and I was surprised that they showed up on my new computer.

Thanks for the response. Try removing VIP status from those you previously designated as VIPs. Follow the steps in the following article.

After you remove the VIP status, quit Mail, then restart.

The problem with the following instructions is that you have to have a VIP message to remove its status. I have many VIP's that had the emails deleted some time in the past, but the VIP status wasn't deleted. I can only have 100 VIPs, but I cannot get rid of the ones I don't have any messages attached to them.
Can you figure out how to get rid of those VIP that I don't use?

on your Mac, select a message from the VIP.

Deleting SmartMail boxes is fine doing it the way the article says, but deleting VIP mailboxes doesn't work. The Choose Mailbox > Delete Mailbox fades and won't work.
