why am i getting hotmail in imessages?

You mentioned getting hotmail in Messages. Did you mean that you're receiving email messages there? If so, is this just from a single contact? If that is the case, does this contact have iMessage or do you converse with them through SMS messages? If they're an SMS contact, you might want to make sure that your messages are getting sent to their number and not their email address if both are in the contact card.

If you start. new conversation, does the same issue occur? Check Use Messages on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch for more info on starting up a new conversation.

Thanks for clarifying. That helps a lot. Are these coming from the same address each time, or are they random addresses? Are they coming through as iMessage conversations or SMS? These are important questions, as you can block the contact sending the messages and you can also filter unknown senders if it is an iMessage. Check out Block phone numbers, contacts, and emails on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch for some info on ways you can limit messages you do not wish to receive.
