ipad pro doesn't show in finder on macbook pro

Have latest IOS on new ipad pro and have latest MacOS Catalina version on my MacBook Pro. Try connecting the two devices using USB-C cable and the MacBook Pro doesn't recognize the ipad pro or show it as connected in Finder. This works fine with my iPhone but the ipad. Any suggestions?

Hey there, murphydog.

Welcome to the Apple Support Communities! Thanks for your post about your iPad not showing up in Finder like it should on your Mac. We'd be glad to help you out with this.

Though the steps mentioned in If your computer doesn't recognize your iPhone, iPad, or iPod revolve around connecting with a standard USB connection, they also apply for your iPad Pro, so go ahead and run through those completely. Note that there is a section at the top and then a Mac specific section down the page a bit. You'll want to complete all the steps in both sections.
