I'm trying to follow the steps provided in Apple Support to Erase All Content on an iPhone8. I've connected the device to my HP laptop but I don't see an option when I search My Computer to Select the Device to restore to original default settings. I've already upgraded to a new phone and all my data has transferred. Just need to wipe the old phone clean to return to Verizon.

Is your phone connected to WiFi? You don't need to hook your phone up to a computer to reset it.
Just sign out of your Apple ID, then go to Settings > General > Reset > Erase all Content and Settings

You need to have itunes in on your laptop and then do this If you forgot the passcode on your iPhone, or your iPhone is disabled - Apple Support
