Passwords in Safari on my iPad disappeared.
this morning they were still there, now a few hours laters they disappeared. How Do I get them back?

You perhaps refer to Password Autofill?
Settings > Passwords & Accounts > Autofill Passwords - set to ON and enable iCloud Keychain.
