Associate a number with a wage/value

Hi everyone,

Since I can't really find an app or even a specific spreadsheet on Numbers that would allow me to keep track of my worked hours, the date and the wage associated, I'm doing it manually by just creating it on an empty one. Anyway, in order make it easy, I wanted to know if I could associate an hour with the value of the wage associated to it. Example : 1 (hour) = 19,50$

This would allow me to just write my hours and the spreadsheet would calculate and add all the interventions by itself.

I'm a lecturer in a postgraduate school so I don't have a consistent salary and hours/month.

Thank you very much for your answer.

Here's a model:

Rates is a ingle column table listing the pay rate in cell A2.

Log is a data table where the date and number of hours (expressed as a number) is recorded for each session. and the earnings are calculated, using the formula shown below the table.

The formula is entered in cell D2 of Log, then filled down by dragging the Fill control, a small yellow dot that appears when you select the cell containing the formula, then place the pointer near the bottom boundary of that cell. Click and hold on the dot and drag downward.

Monthly totals are calculated on the Summary table, using the formula seen below that table in the image below. The formula is entered in cell B2, and filled right into C2, then filled down to the last row of the table.

NOTES:

  • As your post shows the money amount as 19,50$ indicating the comma is the decimal separator in your region, you will need to replace the periods ( . ) in my decimal numbers with commas ( , ) and the commas in the second formula with semi colons ( ; ).
  • The Dates in column A of Data and column A of Summary must be Date and Time values specifying an actual date. The ones in Summary are all the first day of the named month. EDATE in this table calculates the date of the same day in the following month. If your pay period differs from that, this formula will need to be revised.

Barry
