4K video output from Lightning to HDMI adapter

Does the Lightning to HDMI adapter support video output in resolutions higher than the native resolution of the device playing it ? So for example, would you be able to output 4K video to a 4K-compatible TV/screen from an iPhone with a 750p Retina display via the HDMI adapter ? Does the native resolution of the device factor into the resolution of the media being played on the screen, as in would having an iPhone with a more pixel-dense screen help ?

And what about HDR and surround sound ? Does the adapter allow them (and their metadata) to pass through as well if the media file utilizes them ?

Thanks so much, in advance !

Hi MoBin98,

We understand you are inquiring about the output resolution using a Lightning Digital AV Adapter.

As stated here: Lightning Digital AV Adapter,

"The Lightning Digital AV Adapter supports mirroring of what is displayed on your device screen — including apps, presentations, websites, slideshows, and more — to your HDMI-equipped TV, display, projector, or other compatible display in up to 1080p HD.

It also outputs video content — movies, TV shows, captured video — to your big screen in up to 1080p HD."

Hope this helps!
