iPhone 11 wired earbuds

I purchased my iPhone in October of 2019, and it came with wired earbuds. A few weeks ago, when listening to podcasts using the wired earbuds, the phone started jumping from podcast to podcast, then to Siri, and then back to the original podcast. At that time the earbuds worked fine. I stopped using the earbuds and just listened to the podcasts on high volume. A few days ago, I tried the earbuds again. The jumping from podcast to podcast seems to have been corrected (I had previously read in Support that the jumping from podcast to podcast issue was happening to a lot of people and everyone was waiting for Apple to come up with a fix for that problem). But now, the right earbud no longer works.

Does anyone know if the earbud issue is an extension of the original jumping from podcast to podcast issue, or is it just that wired earbuds don't last very long? As a note, the podcasts always play fine when they are not plugged into the earbuds. Thank you. Mikayla Pratt

Thank you for your advice. I had already cleaned the charging port and the wired EarPods, so the only option left was to try the EarPods from my husband's iPhone 11 that had never been used. Those worked perfectly, so the problem was in the wiring, it seems. I will need to find a new set for myself, so glad it wasn't a problem with the actual iPhone. Thanks again for your help.
