Best iPad for College

Hi!! So I am going to college in the fall and really want to get an iPad for school to cut down on paper because I like to rewrite my notes and I was wondering which iPad would be the best and how much storage would be the best?

Thank you!! -Anela

It's really up to you: depends upon "tastes", funds, size, and weight considerations.

I've been using an iPad for my primary computer device since the iPad Retina (the 30 pin version, that only sold for about half a year).

I moved to an iPad Pro, 12.9" (2nd gen.), about a year ago.

I like the larger screen, but it is heavier.

For my wife, we, first, got a first gen. iPad Pro, 11", but that was stolen, before we had it long (and we've never seen it since).

More recently, we got her an iPad Air, 11". It's nice and light, for her. (I like it too, when I use it.)

With iCloud storage, I have had little issue with sufficient storage. (I turned on iCloud Storage for all Apps that had the option, early on.)

For note taking, you may want to use an iPad that's compatible with Apple Pencil (though there are other options, but with lesser capabilities, generally). (As of this writing, there are two generations of Apple Pencil, with fewer iPads compatible with the more recent, and more capable, Pencil.)

So many choices!

An iPad Air 3 or iPad Pro 11 inch maybe a good compromise in price and performance.

All iPads run the same full iPadOS.

If you want the option to use one of the new Apple Magic keyboards, then an iPad Pro ( either a 2018 or 2020 iPad Pro is your ONLY option to be able to use one of these, the Magic Keyboard ain’t cheap but is a great option to be able to use at home or away from class )

The iPad Air 3 comes with some carry over features from an iPad Pro, but not all.

The iPad Air 3 has 3 GBs of internal RAM where the new 2020 iPad Pro models all come with 6 GBs of RAM!

The iPad Air uses the older, original Apple Pencil, but is has a laminated screen, like the Pro models and has the Tru-tone room color calibration feature and the screen has the better color gamut, similar to the 2018/2020 iPad Pro models.

The iPad Air 3 uses Apple's smart keyboard cover, which is supposed to be a new and improved version.

The iPad Air 3 lacks the 120 Hz “Pro-Motion” screen refresh rate ( used with apps that use the Apple Pencil ) NO high end cameras or the 4-speaker audio.

If this stuff isn't too terribly important to you, the 10.5 inch iPad Air 3 is a good compromise and solid performer.
