In my MACINTOSH-HD, a"other volume in container" is taking up upto 120gb of my disk leaving only 30 gb after other apps and folders taking up the space, i did search for solutions but wasn't sure. i have the Early 2015 macbook 256 gb. Any sort of help will be appreciated. How to fix this issue?

There are two volumes, "Macintosh HD" and "Macintosh HD - Data"
Macintosh HD is the system files and Macintosh HD - Data is your data.
If you select Macintosh HD in Disk Utility, it will show how much storage that volume takes, and how much storage the other volumes take up.
If you select Macintosh HD - Data, you will see how much space is taken up by your data, and how much storage space the other volumes take up.
Your data, Macintosh HD - Data, is the majority of "other volumes in container." It isn't some fluke or mistake. It is your stuff.
If you need to clear up space on your drive, then you need to figure out what files you have stored on that drive that you can either delete or move to another external drive. That is how you free up "other volumes in container."

In Catalina, the system files are on one Volume, and your data is on another.
When you select the system volume in DU, your data volume is one of the other volumes in the container.
There is also a VM, Preboot, and Recovery volume in the container.
how do i free up the space, do i have to remove it or not? I need someone to guide me through the process as i am no expert.
If you want to erase your data, then go ahead. Most people want to keep their data, though.
If you want to keep your data, don't do anything as there is nothing wrong.
