Hi
I watched Defending Jacob on apple tv app on my lg oled and it was full screen, no bars top and bottom.
Backed out of episode and then pressed resume and it had bars top and bottom.
I fixed it by doing this, but it shouldn't have done it in the first place. Has anyone else noticed this happen?
Perhaps a bug on the internal TV app that Apple have yet to address?

There is a zoom-to-fit option on the Apple TV set-top box, to zoom the amount needed to not have letterbox bars. That viewing property would be temporary for the currently playing title, and would not retain after backing out.
Possibly that option also exists on the Apple TV app on smart TVs?

Cheers will check, although a few others on another forum have reported same behaviour where apple tv + content is full screen when it should have black bars via the internal TV app.
Backing out or changing the aspect ratio and back again seems to fix it so sounds like a possible bug.

Good to hear, I actually went back to using my apple tv 4k box as I like to view some of the extras you get with movie purchases, still hopefully its fixed then.
I am having the same issue when watching a CBS All Access show (Star Trek: Deep Space 9) via the Apple TV channel on Visio TV using Roku Express. Shows in 16:9 on CBS All Access channel directly, but 4:3 when watching thru Apple TV.

Me too. How this missed beta testing I've no idea. This happens on every title I watch on TV using the app on my LG tv.
