I open my computer this morning and it was super slow and it won’t launch any programs whatsoever.

Safe Boot from the HD, (holding Shift key down at startup), does the problem occur in Safe Mode?

Safe mode attempts to repair Disks & clears lots of caches & loads safe Drivers, & prevents loading of 3rd party extensions, so if Safe Mode works try again in regular boot.

You may be having serious HDD issues.

If you do not already have a current and complete backup...

Boot Safe Mode, and use Disk Utility get a backup to a spare external storage device RIGHT NOW.

Do not run tests, do not verify the file system, do not attempt re-installation, nor any other such activities.

Do not dawdle.

If you do not already have a current backup, your sole priority is to GET A BACKUP.
