IPAD mini2 not holding charge very long, needs to be recharged too often
iPad Mini 2 is a nearly 7-year old device!
It may be possible that the internal, rechargeable, Lithium-ion battery is failing.
Before it completely fails, I suggest contacting/reaching out to Apple Product support and services.

Best of Luck to You!
Many, many things affect battery life and to just say 'it needs recharging often' is not really enough info. Firstly the iPad Mini 2 (I have the same) is a good few years old now. Depending on the usage it could have now only 60% battery health from when it was new. You can monitor the battery but it only tells you usage stats. With mostly looking at pages in Safari, the odd youtube video, mail, photo browsing texting etc mine will last a couple of days. If yours is any less than that it may be the battery is suspect. Only real way to check unless there are apps that can show battery health (I know there are for mac laptops) is to make an appointment at your local Apple store to get it checked. There should be battery replacement scheme or other options.
If your iPad Mini 2 is still operating, Apple can do the iPad and iPad/battery diagnostics remotely, initially, before having to go to your “local” Apple Store.
Call Apple support first.
