I can't close a "verifying" core services UI agent window.

I downloaded an app that I've used many times before and everything was normal in the installation. However, I've had a Core Services UI Agent pop up that will not go away. I can only minimize it. I've deleted the original app and re-downloaded it and it is still there.

I had this happen with an Outlook update today. It popped up this twice, but the application updated fine, and opened find. I opened Activity Monitor, looked for CoreServicesUIAgent entries and manually killed them. I have not seen any issues after doing this. It did not try to verify again. If I install a third-party application from the vendor site, and not from the Mac App Store, Apple's GateKeeper security will attempt to verify the application every time it is launched.

One must right-click on the installed application, and then choose Open from the secondary menu. This will show the Verify panel, and a dialog will appear immediately afterward, with an Open button on it. Click that and the application will then open. Once this one-time ritual is done, you will not receive further verify dialogs when running the application until you supercede the application with a new version. Then you repeat the ritual again.

Safe Boot from the HD, (holding Shift key down at startup), does the problem occur in Safe Mode?

Safe mode attempts to repair Disks & clears lots of caches & loads safe Drivers, & prevents loading of 3rd party extensions, so if Safe Mode works try again in regular boot.

You can save us asking dozens of questions by submitting a report from this App for us to look at…

EtreCheck is a FREE simple little diagnostic tool to display the important details of your system configuration and allow you to copy that information to the Clipboard. It is meant to be used with Apple Support Communities to help people help you with your Mac. It will not display any personal info.

Pastebin is a good place to paste the whole report if you capture the URL while there…

Whew, they've changed pastebin & made it harder, but after pasting in, click Create new paste button, then Embed button, then copy the URL...

The important part is...

Workable but harder for me to work with...the Note tool on the bottom of this editor's toolbar, as shown in the image, to copy and paste the output from EtreCheck. In a Reply before you click post, look for this to add longer texts...
