HELP! FCPX Keeps freezing!

Hi everyone. So I have been working on a music video all week. Got to the final part of tidying up and adding transitions etc.

This project has 17 layered videos and I added a fade to black to 16 of these at the same time. FCPX crashed. Now every time I open the project it freezes at that section during playback. Even when I don’t playback, I go to delete the fades and it freezes. Touching any of these segments makes it freeze.

Things I Have Tried:

• restart laptop

• deleted FCPX preferences (command + options)

• Work on the project local rather than external ssd (same result)

• deleted rendered files

• delete and reinstall FCPX

• use another MacBook (2014 air model) and got same results when playback reached that section

I am completely stuck as to what to do. Someone please help me. This video was meant to be released tomorrow.

Thank You

MacBook Pro 16″, macOS 10.15

It looks like that project got corrupted somehow.

Are you able to go to the project, select all (Command-A), and Copy (Command-C)?

If so, try creating a new project (Command-N) and then Paste (Command-V).

See if the new project works.

I mean two seperate Libraries that have Managed Media is at least a working backup.

My suggestion involves deleting the flexolibrary from within the Package Contents.

If one LIbrary goofs up it's nice to know you have a backup so you do not end up in a worse position.

Thank you for your help guys. So after many many hours of trouble shooting I finally sorted it. From what I could gather, either my laptop or the software couldn’t handle so many transitions.

instead of trying to delete the transitions off the story line (which resulted in FCP crashing), I pulled each clip out of the story line one by one. Took ages but seemed to bypass whatever was happening. Then I could delete the faded below the footage no problem.
