If the printer's specifications do not explicitly state that it is AirPrint-compatible, do not buy it.

I also despise inkjet printers, but I despise Brother inkjet printers the least. They will consume ink whether you use them or not, but at least they'll work when you need them to work.

We do not what exactly will you be printing since you did not mention that. I will therefore need to make a very generalized recommendation and that is that almost every HP printer out there is capable of AirPrint feature. After that it all comes down to a matter of cost. You are the only one who can make the cost decision.

Except for the Imagewriter II I still use for check printing, Our home has only Laser Printers, one "business-graphics" quality color (can print photos in a pinch, but not great for that) and one black-and white. Ours are all older, so they do not match any current models.

Just wanted to add a different perspective.
