Safari

I recently upgraded my iPad from a 2nd to a 7th gen. When using Safari, I accidentally open a second window that I cannot close and thus both windows are now half screen and I have a hard time reading any info off of either. My vision has deteriorated over the years and is the reason I use a full size iPad in the first place. Anyone know how to close any of those additional windows?

The “x” that closes a single safari tab or window on my iPad has disappeared I always keep more than one window open in safari - not split screen style - if I want to read something later. Then I just hit the “x” on the place description under the address bar when I’m finished to close it. While I was using my iPad this morning, I must have inadvertently done something to make the x’s disappear. I can hit the 2 boxes at the top right of the screen to close all the windows at once, but I can’t close just one. Does anyone know how to fix this? Turning the iPad off and restarting it doesn’t change anything. Thanks.
