Are messages delivered when you are blocked?

I have been blocked by my ex boyfriend. I have had to communicate with him but of course being blocked, they are not going through. However, I have an iPad and I noticed that on the iMessages of the iPad, they are synced, says that the messages are delivered. He has always had the read receipt off, so I have never known if they have gone through even in the past. So my question is, because the iPad said it was delivered, did he actually get it? Or is it still blocked?
