Macbook Pro Mid-2010 15 inch model macOS High Sierra - Drivers not installed properly?

Hi Guys - I have an issue with my Mid-2010 15inch Macbook Pro 6,2 Model.

I have just recently re-installed the macOS High Sierra 10.13.6 which is compatible to my Mac, but after installation, I encounter the following:

  1. Can't detect my Battery. (I've already done SMC Reset and all Battery fixes but to no avail.) It used to detect before I did this installation.
  2. No Graphics Card support: My NVIDIA 330M was not downloaded or installed and IDK why.
  3. Trackpad Features: some trackpad features are also gone, I can't change the settings on my trackpad.
  4. and much more.

Bottom-line, the drivers for my Mac wasn't installed correctly and now I have an OS but everything else feels sluggish which shouldn't be the case.

I would install the OS again, just install it over what you have.

First though I would download another copy of the OS.

Connect your mac to your router via cable.

Open Safari, do not use Firefox and click on this link.

How to upgrade to macOS High Sierra - Apple Support

Go to Section 4 and click on Get macOS High Sierra

this will redirect you to the App Store High Sierra download page

it should say Get or Download.

If it says Open then the App Store has detected a copy of Install macOS High Sierra.app

on your mac, locate it and move it to the Trash, empty the Trash.

Restart your mac.

Do not use the mac while it is downloading, and do not use any other devices that share the

same internet connection while the mac is downloading.

When it is finished downloading check that Install macOS High Sierra.app in your Applications folder is 5.23GBs .

Now make a bootable USB stick using the Install macOS High Sierra.app in your Applications folder and

the createinstallmedia command in Terminal, read the instructions here,

How to create a bootable installer for macOS – Apple Support

Having created the bootable USB installer, restart your mac while pressing and holding the option/ alt key

until you see the Startup Manager, select the bootable USB and press Return.

The mac will restart and boot into the bootable USB, after a couple of minutes you will see

a Utilities panel, select Install OS, press Continue.

The installation process will start follow the prompts.

Hi Eau!

I reinstalled High Sierra with a new installer along with a new bootable media, but the issue still persists.

I still don't see my:

  1. NVIDIA Graphics Card
  2. Trackpad doesn't support multigestures
  3. No battery icon -- not even detected.

But on the other parts, it is working perfectly fine. Not sure if it's the High Sierra having the problem.
