AirPods won’t connect to iPhone. Light stays solid white.

new AirPods. Won’t connect to iPhone. Light stays solid white. Held button for over 2 minutes. Still solid white. Phone connects ok to wife’s AirPods.

I can't get them to reset. I've held the button down for minutes at a time. Light stays solid white. Is there another way to reset?
