this is my first time trying to pair my apple pencil with my iPad. But why it cant be connected? Have followed all the instructions. And my pencil is compatible with my iPad.

I’m using iPad Air 3 And try to pair it with 1st gen apple pencil.
I bought the pencil online last week. After a few attempts to pair it but fail, I have the thought that my pencil doesnt have battery, So I charge it for an hour. However, they still cant be paired.
Did you try my suggestion?

It is a new one, Bought it from the apple website.

There is a known issue when connecting an Ipad Air 3rd Generation and 1st Generation Pencil. The way to resolve the issue is to connect and disconnect power to the iPad then connect the pencil via the lightning port and this should start the pairing request. I have confirmed it worked for me.
