Stuck on a globe with a exclamation Mark (please help)

Ive downloaded an update on my MacBook Air. But when my Mac reset to download the update, it showed me the prohibitive sign. I tried using the network recovery but it didn’t work, I got a globe with a exclamation mark with some numbers under it. On the Apple support page, it says to use the Ethernet cable. But I don’t have that in my possession right now, currently I’m very worried about my Mac. I don’t know if it’s my WiFi or my Mac internally. If anybody can help thank you!

The information you were told is incorrect. You can connect your notebook to a network either by a wireless or wired connection. Using one type does not exclude the notebook's ability to use the other.

As I mentioned, this type of error typically relates to using a wireless connection, but also the how your notebook is connecting t the Internet. For example, if you are required to enter a username/password in order to gain Internet access (something you would find at a hotel), the Internet Recovery Mode will not work. There are a number of other reasons for it to fail as well.

Per chance are you also seeing an error number, something like: -2002f, along with the globe?
