Dark screen outside

hello, I have a new iPhone 11 Pro. Since few weeks I hardly see my screen outside, however the brightness is at maximum. Can, someone help me with this issue? Thanks!

I understand, is the issue only occurring outside? If it is, sometimes certain activities can cause devices to overheat naturally when outdoors, or certain activities that you do more outdoor, such as being a nature photographer. Though you may only be taking photos, the device does warm up a lot when the camera is being used for an extended period of time. If the case is too thick your phone may still overheat in the shade depending on what is done. (Gaming also causes the phone to overheat).

I do understand what you're saying in regards to the iPhone 8, it could be possible that the phone isn't being used as much or as intensely as the iPhone 11 Pro.

My issue was heat related and in comparison to an iPhone XR that my friend had, my iPhone 11 Pro was dimmer than the iPhone XR due to the heat.

If the issue is nothing to do with heat, and the issue happens indoors as well, check to see if you have any Accessibility Features enabled (could have happened accidentally). To check this, go into Settings->Accessibility->Display & Text Size and check to see what is enabled. Check to see if Reduce White Point is enabled (scroll down to the bottom) as it will Dim the screen to a much dimmer level.

I hope this helps.

Hi Kissg,

If your phone is overheating, the screen will dim temporarily until it cools down. The phone doesn't always tell you that it's overheating, it only usually tells you if it gets to an extremely hot and unusable level. When the phone is warm the flash will also be disabled, so you can check in the camera app the next time it happens and see if the flash is disabled, and therefore the device is too warm (you also may probably feel the device is getting warm depending on how thick your phone case is if you have one). The screen will go back to normal once it cools down so its nothing to worry about, but its always best to try and keep the device cool when possible.

I am also speaking from personal experience, I was outside in the sun taking photos and I noticed the screen was extremely dim even though it was at full brightness, when I returned to the car and held the phone in front of the AC for a while to cool it down The phone literally went back to the expected max brightness right before my eyes. So keeping the phone cool always helps.
