How do i get a refund for cancelling my subscription?

How do I make sure I cancelled a subscription? I had a free trial on an app and forgot to cancel on time. I don’t want the app or subscription I need a refund.

Purchases - Subscriptions not billed through Apple

Normally, all sales are considered final, but you can ask for a refund.
