Apple Cash. Asking for social security number long after account set up????

I set up my Apple Cash long ago. Today, before I could accept a payment from someone it asked me a bunch of questions. I answered all the questions except my Social Security Number. Why is app asking me this when I already set up account???

It's legally required now. Transactions over a certain threshold must be reported to the IRS for tax purposes.

It was only $20 thou. Or are they just asking for future transactions?
