Mac app store won't update apps

New Mac, less than a week old and the apps that need updating won't update. App store says they have either been refunded or purchased with another Apple user id.

MacBook Pro 13″, macOS 10.15

The work around is to delete the apps and redownload them with your current Apple ID.
