Purple green monitor with mac mini

It almost certainly has nothing to do with cables (they work the same at all times, with a possible exception of Copy Protection mechanisms‼️).

It most likely is not about the Mac mini's Display hardware.

It may have to do with the software you are using to play videos, and, possibly, issues with proper support for the High Res. Copy Protection (whatever it is actually called) standard, both from the software and, possibly, the cables.

Basically, I suspect, the monitor is "distorting" the video as a "warning" that something isn't "right", as far as it can discern.

I'm actually a little surprised the screen doesn't simply go black.

he was referring to the monitor's setup menu that you would access using the monitor'a remote.

What year model Mac Mini do you have?

The earlier models have a Thunderbolt/Mini DisplayPort and the latest model has Thunderbolt 3/USB-C ports that can also be used for connecting a monitor.

this is a problem a lot of pc users also get (purple screen issue) and, 90% of the time related to the cable. I know tried a new monitor (presumably a new cable as well).

I would still suggest trying a new cable.

Try changing the resolution settings on YouTube starting with the highest. It should fix.
