I have recently purchased a Sony A8G tv and unable to download the Apple TV plus app. It's very disappointing that there are many paid tv options on the market and Apple are selective on which TV's they allow the apps to download to.
Is there any way around this?
Currently the A8G is supported for AirPlay. Sony would support the Apple TV app “later this year”.

Unfortunately, that is as specific as I have read it some time ago.

I spoke with Sony they have said it was up to Apple to support the app not Sony.
Apple would be the developer of the app, true, but that is likely to specific Sony hardware specifications, so in that sense the chosen models will have to support the app. That is what my phrasing was meant to convey.
