My iPhone 8 has developed a couple of bright white spots on the lower left corner that look like thick quotation marks. They are most noticeable on a white background screen. The phone has not been dropped or damaged in any way. Is this a know issue?

I took my iPhone 8 to Best Buy since all the Apple stores are closed. They believe it is a swollen battery that is pressing on the display screen. They said I needed to send the phone to Apple for repair/replacement. :(
