Stop iPad ghost touching

Less of a question and more of a solution in case anyone is pulling their hair out.

I had a long period during the last few iterations of iOS 12 and all of iPadOS 13 in which my iPad screen was infuriatingly eratic with touch input. This included ghost characters, no characters, spontaneous repeats of characters, stuttered pull downs to refresh ... all of which made it difficult to impossible to use the device. After various internet searches I had sadly concluded that perhaps there was hardware problem.

This issue was resolved by:

Settings > General > Reset > Reset All Settings

NB: That's not Reset Network Settings.

I don't know why this worked but it did and the ghost touching problem is gone.

After performing Reset All Settings the iPad rebooted and all of my data was still there but customisations like wallpaper, and setting up fingers for Touch ID needed to be redone.

Hope someone finds this useful.
