download icon missing from tool bar. How do I restore it.
The originals of Most Applications are (or should be) in the
/Applications
folder. You can drag it from there to the Dock and it will "stick" (actually an Alias will stick) in the Dock for your convenience.
Inside the /Applications folder provide additional protections and other benefits. If you find that Icon in the Downloads folder, you should move it to:
/Applications or
/Applications/Utilities
