apple mail keeps trying to create a pop account for my email. NO! I want to know how to add an IMAP account. Who uses POP anyway???
Thanks Bob, I've been on that page. It has instructions for Apple Mail 7.0. I have Mail 13.4. it looks like after multiple deletions of the POP account Mail kept automatically setting up, I deleted and again re-installed the account and it mysteriously appeared as an IMAP account. Bewildering to say the least.
It’s xfinity. It is IMAP.

You can't set up an account as IMAP if your account is a POP account so make sure your email account is indeed an IMAP account.
