I accidentally agreed to a 3 month free trial when I already have iTunes ... can I cancel the subscription without losing all of my downloaded items
Yes, but you should maintain a full backup of your library regardless, and anything that has been downloaded as part of the Apple Music subscription ceases to work when the trial/subscription expires.
