system preferences on iMac does not give the same options as Settings menu on my other devices
I do not have settings on this Catalina on my iMac and I can't set things the way I want them... I am so ****** at apple....

Of course they don't have the same options. iOS and macOS are completely separate OS's and run on entirely different hardware. It isn't possible for them to have the same choices.
What are you trying to do?
FWIW, System Preferences has been the way to change "settings" on a Mac since OS X was introduced in 2001. Nineteen years ago.
I have had a MAC for all those years but I have never lost photos before... Never had a problem I could not solve... I have had computers since the late 1980 and have never had a lesson or instruction of any kind on any computer technology ,I have done much work etc with computer so at 85 years I do not need any smart remarks... thank you for your help.
does anyone know if there is a settings app I can put on my machine.??
