Not sure what all troubleshooting you have done therefore will list a few steps below for you to perform the tasks-

  1. Shut Down and ReStart your iPhone AND Your Apple Watch. Turn OFF both devices first. Turn ON the iPhone First and then turn on the Apple Watch. Try pairing automatically again or manually again.
  2. If the above does not work then reset network settings on your iPhone by opening Settings ➔ General ➔ Reset ➔ Reset Network Settings. Once completed then try and pair the Apple Watch again.

This is what I was eluding to when I asked you whether your Apple Watch (in question) was used with another Apple ID. You answered that it was. You also figured out about the Activation Lock. Good. Now we need to remove the Activation Lock from your Apple Watch (in question). I hope that you remember the Apple ID and Password that was used with the Apple Watch.

The thought process here is that you log in to that Apple ID (that the Apple Watch was initially associated with) and remove that Apple Watch from the device list. That will remove the Activation Lock.

Go to this website from a computer if possible www.appleid.apple.com and log in there with Apple Watch's Apple ID and Password and then remove the Apple Watch from the device list. After that try the pairing process again. Good Luck.

As I see now on my other watch, I think I found my problem. I didn’t unpair my watch first, and now the activation lock is still on. I directly pressed Erase all content and data... now what can I do? I dont have both old iPhones that were used to pair with both of my iWatches. The other iWatch is still on, I didnt pressed Erase all content and data, but I don’t know how to unpair it with my old iPhone. Any sugestions? Thanks in advance 😔

Agreed that this updating loop between the iPhone and the Apple Watch can and probably has given you frustration. How about we walk away for a day or two and then attack it again. Now this is a challenge and if it comes back under you control then take a whack at it. You have invested a lot of time and have figured out all of the solutions. Two day break is in effect.

Interesting. This recent finding tells me that then there is no Activation Lock on the Apple Watch in question. It is not locked to any Apple ID that you know of. So we are back to square one.

I know, you and I are both running out of options so would like to try one last ditch effort of FORCE RESTARTING the iPhone X and the Apple Watch. Once completed successfully then try pairing again.

(1) Force Restart your iPhone X exactly as shown below:

  • Press and quickly release Volume UP button
  • Press and quickly release Volume DOWN button
  • Press and Hold the SIDE button until an Apple logo appears then release the Side button (Can take up to 20 seconds. DO NOT release Side Button when invited to Slide Power OFF).

(2) Force ReStart your Apple Watch as shown below:

  • Press and hold the side switch of the Apple Watch
  • While still pressing and holding the side switch in, Press and Hold the Crown at the same time UNTIL you see the Apple Watch Turn OFF and then an Apple Logo appears. Release both buttons when you see the Apple Logo.

Then after the iPhone X and the Apple Watch have completed the boot cycle then try pairing again.

  1. Unfortunately, that also didn't work.
  2. Just to try, I deleted first my other apple watch from my device's list, than erased it. After I did that, I tried to pair it. It didn't pair automatically but when I tried to pair it manually, it did show me the code and Voila! It paired. Is it possible that I f***** up the other apple watch by not removing it from the device list before I erase it?

Okey, new problem. I pair with the scam my iphone xs max with my other watch (the one that was linked with my apple id). After that it says that I have to update the watch so it can work. When I try to update it, I get: To update the software on your Apple Watch you first need to update the software on your iPhone. Go to software update settings.

All of this is nice, except that my phone is updated to the latest version. I am posting screenshots also.

I think I am just gonna give up. I mean, I understand that Apple is doing everything o potect us from our devices to get stolen or lost and found but, this is just to much to handle. I lost two days trying to solve the problem (also losing your time Axel) and without any luck solving the problem. This is just frustrating 😔
